Graphite pencils
Graphite Pencils are the basic to everyone that loves to sketch and draw.
There are a lot of good brands, in Europe, Caran D´Ache, Staedtler, Faber Castell, Derwent, Koh-I-Noor are among the best known, in USA, the Blacking is one that artists love and in Japan, Tombow and Mitsubishi are 2 brands I consider premium pencils and are among tne best of the best you can buy, although they are expensive.
My favourite are the Staedtler Mars Lumograph, the Staedtler Mars Lumograph Black (the lead is a mixture of Graphite and Carbon that allows richer darks and minimizes the shine of the graphite. Faber Castell also has similar pencils but I prefer the Mars) and my go to pencil for sketching is one from the japanese store Muji, a simple 2b pencil that I love and it`s much cheaper than any of the others.
Always choose high quality materials and don`t think the most expensive ones are always the best. It`s crucial to experiment with different brands and types of materials because individual preferences vary. Sometimes, more affordable options can surprise with their performance. You should discover what works best for your personal style.
